[There's a shock of dark brown hair visible at first- After a moment the camera travels down to reveal Norman looking into the gear. He offers an awkward half-smile.]

So, I guess I made it all the way to Violet City. Not alone, or anything, but- I'm still really surprised I did it. It's a lot harder than camping, and the weather was pretty gross, too.

I think we're going to stay here for a little while. I heard that the gym is pretty hard and I kind of want to try and get a badge.

Oh- That reminds me.

[Norman isn't usually one to show off or anything, but he's kind of proud of this, so he shuffles a bit shyly before he shifts the gear's camera to a Hoothoot.]

This is Hopkins. I caught him. Um, well, with help from Ellis. I don't think we would have found him if he hadn't run into that tree.

[There's a long ...sort of awkward pause where Norman doesn't know what else to say. He makes a few uncertain faces before he shrugs.]

That's all, I guess. Uh.

[And the feed ends.]

[Open for action in Violet City, as well. He's just going to be walking around with his Duskull out and about, exploring the city.]

That's ...good to know. [Norman eyes the Rhyhorn warily before he catches what Orpheus is saying.]

[Romero is an excitable thing and he bounces and whirls as he responds back.]

He has the best taste! I'm his partner, after all!

[Norman snorts.]

Oh, I see. How's it going so far?

[Hopkins blinks at the Snubbull and hoots in greeting. Hello!]

[admits] Not great.

[Steve waves. Hello there! So that's what the scary sounds at night come from. The bird is not so scary in person.]

[Blake figures it's time for a subject change.]

Anyway, what's your name, kid?

[When he speaks to Romero like that, Ilya stares at him in confusion for a couple seconds... before her eyes suddenly widen as she realizes the implications.]

You can talk to them?

Ooooh, that is interesting! Mistress can't ever figure out what we're saying, it's kind of sad. But we love her anyway!

Maybe you should make a list of words you can substitute instead of cursing.

[Hoot hoot! Hopkins flaps his wings and settles on Norman's shoulder.]

Norman. My name's Norman Babcock.

[Norman looks up and kind of shrugs, abashed.]

Um, yeah. Just the ghosts, though. I can't actually talk to any others.

I get to be the go-between when he talks to the others!

Oh? That's strange, the other person I met who can talk to Pokemon can talk to all of them. Did you have some sort of power in your world related to ghosts?

[Wouldn't be the first time she's heard of something like that.]

Uh-uh. No 11-year-old on the planet is making me say any cutesy crap.

[The look on Blake's face is pure depression. Why does the world hate him so?]

You could always try cursing in something like book titles or song lyrics.

[Norman blinks, utterly confused. He slowly raises an eyebrow.]

Yeah, I do.

[He shrugs. Talking about it isn't something he makes a habit, but he's not about to lie.]

I used to talk to the dead back home. I guess that means I can only talk to ghost pokemon here.

[Not being able to see ghosts everywhere was still really hard to get used to.]

How's that even supposed to work? [Unless they're ones that have cursing in them already, and that kind of defeats the purpose.]

[Carter shakes his head] Just somebody else I know by the same name. When did that one get popular?

The weather shapes up in the summer. Camping in early spring is pretty much balls so you might wanna wait till it warms up to move on from Violet.

Oh, then you're a medium! Those are all in the service of the Church where I come from.

That sounds like a pretty good idea, really. I mean- camping was fun and all getting up here, but it was still really cold.

Really? I thought most places like that would try to hurt them. I mean- that kind of happened to one of my ancestors during the 1700's.

[He's starting to get used to people taking this in stride.]

It damn sure was a lot of hard work gettin' here, but it was totally worth it!

[Ellis is. Responding with video, even though he could probably easily go find Norman wherever he actually is.]

Man, that was a wild night, wasn't it? But totally awesome! Our Hoothoots are so cool. I'm glad we did that! Even if my nose kinda still hurts sometimes. Y'know, I think it's actually a little crooked now? I dunno... But oh well, I'd do it again if I had to!

Just shout a book title instead of the curse? Or song title, I guess works if you know more of those. I mean- you're still shouting something in rage, so it still gets the job done, it's just less likely that you'll get mauled by angry soccer moms.

Oh, do you mean Mr. Jayden?

[It's okay Norman is probably out looking around.]

You think it's crooked? Maybe you should go see a doctor.

[Oh no. Norman feels really guilty about his nose.]

Well... does it look crooked to you?

[Here Norman, he's just going to lean in close to the camera so that you can get a real good look at it.]

[ELLIS NO. DAS GROSS.]

No, I don't think so. But um, maybe go blow your nose.

Sorry ya had to see my boogers, man. But I'm glad my nose ain't crooked...

[Casually, he reaches over and rummages around in his bag for a tissue. Yeah he's just gonna blow his nose.]

It's okay. If it keeps hurting you should probably still go get it looked at.

Well, that was a long time ago. The Church decided that using them was a lot more effective than killing them a while back, in my world at least. Of course, when you have things like Dead Apostles wandering around making life miserable for everyone, you've really got to think of things like that.

[She's really pretty chill talking about killing and "Dead Apostles", whatever those are. Like she's talking about the weather.]

Oh yes, all sorts of spells. If we were back in my world I wouldn't mind showing you, but like I said, I can't do it here.

[She sighs, folding her arms and not even bothering to hide her disappointment.]

I'm not gonna go yelling "Da Vinci Code!" at anybody, kid.

[That's worse than not swearing at all.]

[heavily] Yeah, that'd be him.

[His tone shows what good friends they are.]

Oh well. [He shrugs. It was a suggestion, either way.]
