brokethecycle: (If I lay here)

One Ghost

[The pokegear flips on and there is a very confused, somewhat bewildered looking kid looking into the camera.]

Okay, um. I ...really don't know what's going on here. This isn't my house, or my mom, and this place is definitely not Blithe Hollow.

Is anyone listening on this? I- this is crazy. I'm walking around this place like I got trapped in a video game- I don't think I've even played this version. What does- Ack!

[And it's at this point, Norman gets cut off because he's being bodily tackled by his pokemon, which can be seen as a Duskull shaped blur. Norman grumbles off screen as he's at the mercy of its affection.]

I'm just making a call, I'm not going anywhere- Okay, okay we can go in a minute. I kind of need you to get off me first.

[The funny thing is that he's actually also having a conversation with it.]
ghostytrainer: (let me tell you about ghost types.)

Yeah there are waaaaaay more than one hundred and fifty here. At least five hundred more, to be slightly more exact but still kind of vague. It's really nothing to freak out about though, yeah. It's pretty great here.

[At that last question, John can't help but grin matter-of-factly.]

It just so happens that ghost types are my specialty. So yes, I would say I know a fair bit about Duskulls. And the other twenty-six species, for that matter. [A beat as his grin slips a little.] Well...okay, twenty-five of the other twenty-six. Giratina is a legendary so it's not like I have any first hand experience with that one. Only what I have read about it in books.

Two years. [He doesn't just like it here, oh no. He loves it here.]

I take it you're some sort of psychic back in your world? Lucky. Anyway, at level thirty seven he will evolve into a Dusclops. He'll get bigger and grow arms and legs and take on a mummy sort of look. And then if you give him a reaper's cloth and trade him, you get...

[He turns the camera away from him, instead focusing it on two massive ghosts a few feet away: a Dusknoir and a Golurk. The two are exchanging various types of punches while a Lampent flits through the air around them, seeming to cheer them on.] a Dusknoir. The slightly smaller big guy with the halo-ish antennae. They're kind of like Grim Reapers of the Pokemon world. Guide lost souls and all that.

[He turns the camera back to himself.]

And on top of that, they are pretty good forts too.

Woah, seriously?! That's so cool, man! [So. Jelly.] So you're like...what? The Ghost Whisperer or something?

[He chuckles.]

But yeah, forts. Did you notice the zig zag on his belly? That's a mouth. If you are small enough and have a good enough relationship with the Dusknoir in question, you can totally hide in there.

[Some trainers ride on a Rapidash...John rides around in a Dusknoir. It is the only way to travel, my friend.]

[Super jelly.]

Maybe if your Dusknoir hates you or something. I dunno, it's never really been an issue for me. I trust Elliot with my life. [He is the best ghost dad and that's really all there is to say on the matter.]

But most ghost types don't exactly...eat normal food. Like Litwick, for example, eats life energy. Misdreavus eats fear, and surely you already know about the move Dream Eater. It's not that they can't eat normal Pokemon food, like berries and stuff, it's just that they don't really have to.

Well, you don't really have to do the feeding yourself. The Pokemon will feed on its own, you just need to be careful that it doesn't over-feed for obvious reasons. So it's just a matter of training it acceptable eating habits. There's a lot more to raising Pokemon besides leveling them up in this place. It's not just about the battles.

Yeah, they really do. But I promise, it's a lot more fun this way.

[Shh, you'll be fine ghost-buddy.]

Actually, you can do all sorts of things here...well, except go home. But you're free to make your own decisions now! The world is your oyster and all that. You don't have to take the gym challenge if you don't want to.

And I guess if you were really that adverse to it...technically you wouldn't even have to catch Pokemon if you didn't want to. Nobody's going to make you.
